The Harm from Clergy Sexual Abuse Can Last a Lifetime
When we talk with survivors, you help us understand that the effects of child abuse, in this case clergy sexual abuse, last a lifetime.
Journey to Bethany seeks to stand with survivors, providing what they need to feel healed and restored. Most of the survivors we serve are now adults in their 50s, 60s or 70s. Most were abused as adolescents and experienced trauma again through the mishandling of abuse cases within the Church.
We recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month to honor survivors, to let survivors know that there are people who care about them, to acknowledge the abuse by clergy, and to provide clarity on prevention and compliance practices.
We want to listen to you, no matter your perspective. When we talk with the community, we learn how to serve survivors better. We also have many resources to share including counseling, survivor support groups, monthly Community Conversations and educational webinars.
